Dr. Constantine (Gus) Tsiapalis (Dr. Gus), Family Chiropractor loves the SAND! After being born in cold Ottawa, Canada (Nov. 29, 1969), his fathers cancer research work brought the family to the southern United States where they lived for 8 years. It was while living in Florida’s St. Petersburg community (Clearwater Beach) that he discovered his love for sand and the outdoors and from here, went on to pursue study in movement, sport, science and clinical health with passionate intensity at both the graduate and post graduate levels. After growing up in the southern states (Lexington, Kentucky/St. Petersburg, Florida & Fairfax, Virginia) and Athens, Greece, it was in London, Ontario where he completed his schooling (Arthur Ford, Saunders, and UWO). He fell in love with volleyball at Saunders and was recruited to play on the indoor volleyball team at the University of Western Ontario where completed his studies in Biology. While setting for the team in his second year at university, he had a painful bout of myoglobinuria and was diagnosed at the Montreal Neurologic Institute with a rare form of metabolic muscular dystrophy (Carnitine Palmitoyl Transferase Deficiency; CPT). After being forced to quit the team, his coach Dave Preston, advised him to began Chiropractic care, rather than follow the medical model diagnosis and prognosis. Dr. Cliff Hardick introduced Dr. Gus to Chiropractic philosophy and the dynamic essential, but it was Dr. Bob Eidt who began adjusting and educating him about how health really works and the role of the nerve system in maintaining and supporting one’s optimal health. Through his care Dr. Gus was inspired to not only learn to prioritize health, but as well, take better care of it from above down and inside out and after only a few months, began training and competing on the Canadian Labatt’s Blue Professional Beach Volleyball Tour with hometown teammate Bryan Kussner. Together, they experienced tremendous success and after their second year of touring, Dr. Gus applied and was accepted to the competitive Chiropractic college program in Toronto where he graduated with his Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1995. Following graduation he went on to study study principles in holistic health and healing around the world including, meditation, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Homeopathy. It was in the summer of 1996 he met his wife, Dr. Jacqueline Tsiapalis, DC and they married and started practice together in 2000. Their Vaughan Chiropractic family wellness center helped strengthen the message for above down and inside out healing for thousands of families in the GTA for the next 21 years. During those years, Beach Volleyball became an Olympic sport and through his love for the game and high performance health, supported our men’s Canadian team of John Childs and Mark Heese who came home with a bronze medal at the first Olympic beach volleyball summer games in Atlanta in 1996. From there he continued supporting the game and young athletes and ended up playing a critical coach and team support role for the following Team Canada future Olympic men’s beach volleyball teams: Josh Binstock/Martin Reader (2012), Josh Binstock/Sam Schachter (2016) and Sam Schachter/Dan Dearing (2024). Beginning in 2015, he also brought the love for for beach volleyball to Milton Ontario youth in his role of President, Beach Director, Coach Director and Head coach to over 5 Milton Edge youth Indoor teams. Today, he and his wife live in Deerfield Beach, South Florida where they continue to be the proud parents of their four children, all born at home, adjusted since birth and living the Chiropractic lifestyle in everything they say, stand for and do…which today includes getting outdoors and in the sand as often as possible, while encouraging others to keep doing the same!
